So What if these were sharp? Tournament
Each entrant gets 1 life (not single elimination) You may yield a fight and continue with no loss. Dead is dead. Double kills knock both fighters out. Wounds are retained. You have 1 tempo after you die to take your opponent out. (1 fencing action, a lunge etc) Marshal will have say on whether the action was in tempo. Single rapier only. Early bird tournament: Format TBD by number of entrants begins 15 min after gate opens. Bring your best game.

This Rapier Tournament will determine the baronial Champion Rapier Fighter for the Barony of Castlemere. Eligible to compete in the much coveted title of baronial Champion of he Barony of Castlemere are only those fighters who have earned the Baron's green service token through acts of service at any of the Trimarian events between Hausmaerchen 2016 and Cutlasses & Corsairs 2017.

with Master of Defense Niccolo Falconetto
The visiting Master of Defense instructor is Master Niccolo Falconetto.

Niccolo (mka Ernesto Maldonado) has studied rapier in the SCA since 1988, and was one of the first group to start attempting to apply historical manuals to SCA rapier in Ansteorra. He has taught at numerous Kingdom and Known World Academies of the Rapier as well as in non-SCA contexts. An active student of Western Martial Arts with the Acme School of Defense in Minneapolis, he has actively studied the works of Capoferro, Fabris, DiGrassi, Dall’Agocchie, and Spanish Destreza along with Classical Italian Fencing. Additionally, he has been involved with Commedia dell’Arte and has directed Commedia troupes at multiple Renaissance Festivals in Texas and Minnesota.
 
We are planning for a 2-3 hour class block in the morning, break for lunch, and then 1-2 hours for open field instructions.
