Come one, come all to participate in the Trimaris Regional Arts and Sciences Faire at Cutlasses & Corsairs 2015 to compete for the coveted title and honor of "Wright of Castlemere" as baronial Champion for the arts and sciences!

All entries must fall between 500 CE and 1650 CE and follow documentation standards set forth for the Kingdom of Trimaris.

From all entrants, the baronial A&S Champion of Castlemere will be selected. Ideally, this champion will be a resident of the Barony of Castlemere whose skill and passion in their arts fosters the arts among the populace. The champion will be selected by the Baroness, the Baronial Minister of Arts and Sciences, and a local Peer. Non-resident artisans are also eligible to compete for the honor of baronial A&S champion of Castlemere, as long as they do not hold a Baronial championship title from ANY other Barony within the Kingdom of Trimaris. This is in keeping with the wishes of the Baronies of Trimaris that no person may hold Baronial Championships from more than one Barony at a time.

This bardic competition is open to any Trimarian in attendance who wishes to represent our kingdom as Warrior Bard (planning to attend Gulf Wars to encourage the troops would be a good aspiration for the Warrior Bard). Entries should deal with some aspect of the Warrior's life such as heroes, epic battles, loving a warrior, training, tall stories, loyalty, knightly virtues, etc. It can be your own original work or a piece created by somebody else. If an entrant uses somebody else's work they must credit the source. The entry does not need to be a period piece, documentation is not rquired.

The winner is encouraged to wear the baldric proudly, and return next year to run the competition. The Warrior Bard of Trimaris also receives the Sword of the Warrior Bard.

DIRTY DOZEN LARGESSE DERBY

Derby Coordinator: Mistress Mayken van der Alst

Location: Outdoor Pavillion

Set-up: 10:30am

Voting: 11:00am - 2pm

We challenge our artisans to a “Dirty Dozen Largesse Derby” at Cutlasses & Corsairs 2016. This brilliant idea originally hails from our cousins in the faraway Kingdom of An Tir: Create 12 largesse items, win the favor of the populace, and come home with a selection of the finest creations of the Kingdom of Trimaris while creating beautiful largesse items for the Kingdom of Trimaris and the Barony of Castlemere at the same time.

The necessary part: RULES

  • All entrants must create 12 items based on a theme that are suitable for largesse (example: 12 needle books, 12 hats, 12 items games, etc. Not: 12 socks – those would count as 6 items)

  • All entries must be tagged (what is it, what is it made of, and who made it) and ready to be gifted the day of the competition

  • The items need not be documentable - this is not an Arts and Sciences competition - but need to have value for a member of the SCA

  • The items need to be handmade.

  • The items should not have heraldry on them.

  •

Judging will be open to the public at the event by the ’beads in a cup’ method. Winner of the Dirty Dozen Largesse Derby is the person with the most beads in their entry’s cup.

The best part: PRIZES

The winner of the Dirty Dozen Largesse Derby by popular choice gets to select one (1) item from each of the other competitors. So in case of 12 entries, that means the winner gets to take home 11 fabulous, handmade, special prizes!

The entrant placing second in the Derby will get to select two (2) items from the other competitors.
The entrant placing third in the derby will get to select one (1) item from the other competitors. In case of a tie the number of prizes (3) is split between the first three runner-ups.

All remaining entries will be donated as largesse items, half of them going to the Crown of the Kingdom of Trimaris, and the other half to the Baron and Baroness of Castlemere.

"The Baroness' Tea"

The new Baroness of Castlemere welcomes the Queen of Trimaris, the Princess of Trimaris, and all landed Baronesses to a private ladies' solar to receive advice, cautionary tales, and words of wisdom and humor. Light refreshments will be served.
